Record-Breaking Subaru finally allowed to show its pace

Prodrive has clinched the 4-door saloon record around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, smashing the previous record with an overall time of 6:57.5.

After the first attempt in May had to be abandoned due to poor track conditions, the team planned to return later in the year when the weather was more in their favour.

Richie Stanaway, a New-Zealand born driver for Prodrive in both the World Endurance and V8 Supercar championship piloted the car on it's record-breaking run.

Based on a stock 2016 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, the Subaru WRX STi Type RA NBR Special is stripped back and modified in several ways, including drastic weight reduction and aero-package. Many components of the car, including the suspension and gearbox are derivatives of those developed for the WRC program by the Oxfordshire-based firm.

The car uses our unique Roller-bearing suspension, previously used by Prodrive in the World Rally Championship.

On behalf of the team here, we would like to send Prodrive our congratulations for the amazing effort.
