This past weekend saw two Past Racing-prepared Ford Sierras take a fantastic 1-2 overall finish at the Historic Vltava Rallye - the second round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship.
Over 160 kilometers of both rough and smooth tarmac around the town of Klatovy, Czech Republic, lay ahead of the competitors. Cars would have to be able to show consistent pace on both rough, gravelled tracks, and fast, flowing back-roads.
Both Ford Sierras prepared by Past Racing underwent meticulous restoration prior to the beginning of the season - and the teams eye for detail has come to fruition - with both cars dominating the standings throughout the rally.
Harri Toivonen and co-driver Cedric Wrede (#4 car) would build their way up the standings - maintaining a top four position for the entire rally. The pair would eventually reach the top spot, overtaking their team-mates, and securing valuable points towards the championship.
Daniel Villarón and co-driver Cándido Carrera (#2 car) showed their pace and consistency right from the opening stages - holding the top spot until they where overtaken by Toivonen and Wrede in the closing stages.
The result now gives Toivonen the overall lead in the FIA ERC Historic championship.
Many congratulations to both drivers/co-drivers and Past Racing for the fantastic performance. The championship heads to Spain next, for the Rally de Asturias Histórico from the 24th to the 26th of May.
